STONE WORKS

Stone is one of the far-reaching branches of arts within the scope of public plastic arts with architecture-related and portable examples.

It consists of the stone workmanship applied via various techniques on such stones as Ankara stone, slate (marla) stone, say stone, küfeki stone, pumice, marble, alabaster, limestone, black stone, oltu stone (jet) and Eskişehir stone (lüle stone).

With uses in the construction, siding and interior decoration, as well as mantling, of some types of architecture, making of gravestones and design of portable ornamented materials and ornaments, stoneware has various branches extending even to public sculpture.
